MidWinter.... and my Camellia Japonica Debutante (Sara C Hastie) Japanese Camellia is in pale pink bloom like an insane woman ... wearing a diaphanous summer frilly frock in a full on blizzard , and I am reminded by the blooms, of the comforting warmth and heat of summer . and of the inherent strength in delicacy, vulnerability, and beauty...... Seeing these frail blooms in January leads me to wonder why kindness and compassion are often mistaken for weakness; and anger and bitterness mistaken for "wit" and "control" for strength...as qualities of personal characteristcs . Rambling thought on am overcast midwinter day , with a fire in the fireplace more for solace than for heat .... flames taking those thoughts and leaping with them to ideas of energy forming and reforming as relationships change and grow and diminish like the flames themselves ..hot but fragile ...depending on the presence of fuel upon which to feed... and turning to ash ; which goes to the garden to feed the Camellia that blooms
in MidWinter...

the spirit of the night has found me once again enfolded me in the darkness of starladen wings the vastness of an infinity of empty space without ever having seen your face leaves me in a barren place abandoned to the quirks and arms of spinning galaxois
The spirit of the fathoms has found me once again engulfed me in the heaviness of lucent flecked chasm the presssure of an infinity of empty depths without ever once more seeing your face leaves me in a desolate place abandoned to the drifts and torrents of vague tides
I cannot see my soul the star have blinded me I cannot feel my soul the depths have numbed me I cannot touch my soul the way is lost
yet the light returns after long night depths give way to shallows and surface after heavy laden I can breathe in stillness and feel the world turn from one still point and not be of this world and yet in it still breathing

Mother Earth, GAIA ,Mother Nature, Mama Earth
We homo sapiens are small small creatures who have not yet learned how to live in our own environment , but are arrogant enough to think we can mold the planet , master gravity ,adjust atmosphere, and wield weather .
We live in a fragile ecosystem where only two inches of one layer of the atmosphere keep us in existence on the delicate outer layer of the blue ball on which we ride millions of miles around the sun.
We have unlimted sources of natural energy .. everything from wind to sun to waves can and does produce energy that we can tap and use for our own comforts ,without destroying the fragile balance in which we live.
Sometimes I think the ADAM AND EVE allegory from patriarchal hebraic tribal history is exactly backwards . We live in paradise but banish ourselves by not using the fruit of the tree of knowlege we are given .
We are our own perverse "avengers "of our own race , arrogantly setting ourselves as judges as to who might be worthy, saved or special ........what hubris ..........
.. and the angels do not carry flaming swords barring the way .. but weep while we carry them and bar our own way by killing each other battling over dwindling resources .. while the abundance of the earth set at our feet and fingertips goes ignored untapped, and untouched .
We prepare for onslaughts from other "tribes" and are ill prepared for natural occurrences , and suffer our own to suffer and die by being ill prepared , and by arrogantly allowing some to suffer more by virtue of arbitrary differences .
I think it is past time to learn what Our Mother is trying to teach us .

What a sweet surprise in my email this morning ........
and I am so very grateful , especially to Priscilla Hernandez who nominated me and everyone who voted or participated in any way because every part of this award process helps independent artists everywhere , and the people at IOMA ; the INTERNATIONAL ONLINE MUSIC AWARDS deserve to be congratulated for their hard work , because they are changing the face, and, paradigm of the music world with their efforts . That gratitude includes all the people , who continually and tirelessly put their efforts into effecting that change as well .

An Outpouring of the Heart
There is an expression in the language of Thailand that denotes a sincere (jing' jai') person who has a " good heart" (jai' dee—good-hearted, kind, generous, benevolent and can also mean an "outpouring of the heart ."
The mouth is considered particularly important in Thai culture as the source of expressions of the heart and the quest for knowledge is a personal matter close to one’s ego, and while the Thai are very sensitive in preserving one’s own, as well as another person’s, ego, an intellectual discussion, which through its process might endanger and intrude on another’s ego, is therefore consciously or unconsciously avoided
In other words, even an academic discussion is considered an intimate act and care must be taken not to criticize the Thai who braves exposing his intellect
By oversimplified contrast, the western ego is focused on the self and its needs. We tend to think our thoughts, feelings, and needs have immediate priority and that we have a right to assert them. The Thai ego is focused on others and their needs.
A Thai tends to think that his thoughts, feelings, and needs at this moment can be deferred, because he knows that in the future they are likely to be fulfilled. Sincerity , generosity compassion and kindness and tangible expressions of these qualities are valued more highly as character traits.
The people of Thailand and Indonesia and India and surrounding countries have been disastrously and mortally inundated by an unprecedented in living history outpouring of the sea .The sensitive people of this most civilised culture in Thailand ( raising one’s voice is very impolite—in fact, it is considered the height of bad manners and causes much loss of face )are showing the survivors there an outpouring of the heart , by volunteering in great numbers to assist them .
The Angels of Venice
A group of superb musicians who play cello flute harp and percussion in Celtic, Classical, Oriental, and Occidental themes so exquisiitely they reach your heart and lighten your soul , as music is supposed to do .........
ANGELS OF VENICE Have a song titled
Lacrimae Mundi , which means "Tears of the World " and can be heard here Angels of Venice Music at AMAZON . It is music that can help ease the burden of the soul of anyone empathetic to the sufferings of the people who have endured this tragedy . And I add hope, that the people who have suffered such unimaginable losses there are also eased by outpourings of the heart by the rest of the world , because their loss is ours as well .
